Sulu Governor Abdusakur A. Tan II hosted the GO Negosyo Program Team from the Office of the Presidential Economic Adviser Jose Concepcion III, and TESDA Director General Secretary Guiling A. Mamondiong, who arrived this morning in Sulu to meet with Provincial and Municipal Officials, Heads of Line Agencies, State University and School administrators, and Cooperative organizations to roll out their proposed programs and projects for Sulu.
Anna Margarita "Ginggay" Hontiveros-Malvar, Sulu Coordinator Go Negosyo gave a briefing of the GO NEGOSYO PROGRAM and outlined the various projects lined up for Sulu. According to Hontiveros, for the Health sector, list of hospital equipments, infra assistance and other concerns by IPHO was already forwarded to the Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) Foundation including additional infra for the Maimbung Hospital. Hontiveros added that she will arrange a meeting between IPHO -SULU Chief Dr. Fahra Tan-Omar and program managers from the MVP Foundation for validation.
Upgrading Smart Communication Facilities in Sulu is in the pipeline. Hontiveros said that Smart Communication Engineers visited Sulu last week and inspected facilities. Once upgrade is complete, a migration to 4G signal is to be expected.
Other socio-economic initiatives reported by Hontiveros are ; development of the Coconut Industry; Repair, Renovation and Provision of Technical Training Equipments for HBSAT; Construction of 93 Village Houses in collaboration with Municipal Local Government Units (MLGU) and the PNP; Construction of two (2) school buildings with 8 classrooms for Public schools ; conduct a Job Fair to provide employment opportunities.
Bounty Fresh, owners of Chooks to Go and partner Company of Go -Negosyo, will offer Contract Growing of Poultry. The Company will provide chick hatchlings, technical expertise and other necessities. Farmers will put up the area and ensure that proper care and maintenance of chicks until they attain proper size. Bounty fresh will buy fully grown chickens from farmers. Bounty Fresh will make a pilot poultry farm with around 5 thousand chicks in Patikul Municipality to jump start the process.
SM Foundation representing Mall Giant, SM Group of Companies, will conduct Vegetable Farming Training to local Farmers starting March 2017.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) plans to reinstate Zamboanga-Jolo-Zamboanga flights. According to Former Governor Abdusakur M. Tan, PAL acquired a new aircraft to service Zambo- Jolo-Zambo flight route. Flight frequency will be 3 days a week with 2 flights per day.
For his part, TESDA Director General Secretary Guiling A. Mamondiong stressed the importance of skills training plays in the cause of Development.
"We have allocated 14,000 skills training scholarships for Sulu out of the 60,000 approved scholarships of TESDA nationwide. 1,000 of the scholarship allocated for Sulu is devoted to enhancing entrepreneurial skills. We encourage people to be start their own business and become entrepreneurs."
Mamondiong also revealed the Duterte Administration's plan to revive Barter Trade and creation of a Special Economic Zone in Sulu.
TESDA will also undertake the Expansion of the Provincial Training Center including dormitories for TESDA trainees. SM Foundation expressed interest to partner with TESDA in this undertaking, according to Mamondiong.
"Anyone who want to have skills training will be accepted, nobody would be rejected.", Mamondiong, stressed.
He also committed 10 employee job orders, additional 2 regular plantilla position to augment staffing of local TESDA office and provision of 30 computer units.
Former Governor Sakur Tan suggested that 93 village houses included in the program be distributed evenly to the municipalities. Provision of additional Solar powered lights to communities and public schools should also be a priority, according to the former Governor.

Sulu Governor Abdusakur A. Tan II thanked visiting development partners and informed them of the creation of an AdHoc Committee by the provincial government to serve as a conduit and coordination mechanism for the smooth implementation of development initiatives.
"The provincial government will always find ways to move forward the interest and well being of our constituents."
GO NEGOSYO PROGRAM is a result of the Town Hall meeting held last December 19, 2016 in Malacanan Palace with Top business tycoons of the country having a dialogue with Sulu Officials led by Sulu Governor Abdusakur A. Tan II with the objective of engaging private enterprises and corporations to help spur economic and social development in the Province of Sulu.. The meeting was sponsored and initiated by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte thru the Office of the Presidential Economic Adviser.
